Understanding a Fallen Fence
In a typical wood fence, there is a 4 x 4 wood post about every 8 feet. This stabilizes your fence and keeps it standing. Fences fall when these posts are weakened by water, causing the wood to begin rotting at the base. As the post rots and becomes weaker, your fence begins to lean and fall.
Follow these simple steps to determine the status of your fence posts. If your fence is leaning, you can be sure that you need a fence repair. Otherwise, check each fence post to ascertain whether or not your fence posts need to be repaired.
- Locate your fence posts. They are tall, square (4 x 4) posts located every eight feet.
- Grip the top of the post and try to shove it back and forth.
- If the post moves more than an inch or so, your post is probably beginning to rot and needs to be repaired.
All Fence Design in Sacramento has perfected a process that will save you hundreds of dollars. If you fence is still standing, it is likely able to be repaired without replacement. We dig a new hold in front of the affected post, and cement a steel bracket about 18 inches below the ground. We then affix the top of the bracket to the existing post. That provides your Sacramento fence with a steel solution that will not rot and is permanent!
